Following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade in June, some companies, including beauty brands, have decided to show their support for abortion rights publicly.
It’s easy to miss a few statements in the flow of busy social media feeds, especially during major events. With such a competitive market too, keeping track of each brand’s values can be hard. Luckily, Allure has contacted 100 beauty brands about what they will be doing to support abortion rights and compiled a list of their stances.
Allure‘s list includes TikTok-viral brands like E.L.F. Beauty and Krave Beauty as well as longtime cult favorites such as Benefit Cosmetics. As far as celeb-owned beauty brands are concerned, Allure notes Hailey Bieber’s Rhode is only of the only brands to have made a public statement showing its stance.
As reported by Allure, many brands shared what actions they would be taking to help protect and uphold abortion rights. This included posting public statements of support, making donations, and expanding their health care plans to cover abortions for their employees as it’s the case of major parent companies like L’Oréal and Coty, which are behind brands like Lancôme, Garnier, Kylie Cosmetics, and CoverGirl.
Allure‘s list also notes whether brands have used other means rather than their most-followed social media accounts to make statements or said nothing at all on the matter, even after being asked.
We understand that choosing where to spend your hard-earned money may often involve checking if a brand’s values align with your own. But, with limited time, researching each brand individually can be difficult. Now, you can easily reference Allure’s handy list to see beauty brands’ stances on reproductive rights and feel confident in your decisions.
