A spokesman for the Italian Finance stated that during the Aphrodite International operation, a company led by a Chinese citizen was identified in that city, which imported and distributed the illegal merchandise.
Legal proceedings were opened against 25 other Italian people deeply involved in import informal counterfeit cosmetic product sales.
In the southern Sicilian city of Catania, as many as 7,763 most-valuable brand counterfeit perfumes were seized, meanwhile in the northern commune of Seregno, Lombardy region, stores selling cosmetics containing butylphenyl methylpropional and more than 8,000 counterfeit personal care products were also detected.
Aphrodite International operation led to detect (across Europe) 133 social networks and instant messaging accounts, as well as 4,419 websites selling and advertising counterfeit products and illegal services.
Regionally speaking, 9,5 million illegal and counterfeit products were seized, including cosmetics and perfumes, body care products, clothing, footwear, jewelry, watches, mobile devices and accessories, the source added.
